Colour - Luminosity - Light

I'm a painter and paper-inlay artist, and everything I make is about light.

For me, if a work doesn't have that glow of internal light, then it seems a little dead. The inspiration to pick up a paintbrush can come from anywhere — a backlit scene, a gorgeously ripe mango, a person with a sparkle in their eyes.
 

I work in oils, acrylics and watercolour, and in my own paper inlay technique: hundreds of shapes, hand-painted in graduated tones, cut and inlaid one by one to build a geometry that shifts as you move around it. Click here for more detail on paper-inlay
